The BioTek ELx808 is a multi-channel absorbance microplate reader designed for high-precision optical density measurements in 96-well format microplates. Functioning essentially as a microplate-format spectrophotometer, the ELx808 measures light intensity as a function of wavelength—allowing for precise quantification in applications such as ELISA, endotoxin testing, enzyme kinetics, and microbial growth.

This model is suitable for both research and development as well as diagnostic use, and is frequently employed across multiple disciplines including biology, chemistry, and nanotechnology. However, unlike some other microplate readers on the market, the ELx808 is specifically engineered for 96-well plates only and does not accommodate a broad range of labware.
