The BAC S15E 1018-10-LE is a high-performance open cooling tower from the S1500E series by Baltimore Aircoil Company (BAC).

Cooling Capacity

Why does cooling capacity vary?
Wet-bulb temperature (ambient air): The cooler and drier the ambient air, the more water can evaporate, resulting in a higher cooling capacity.
Water temperatures: Performance varies significantly depending on the incoming hot water temperature (e.g., 35 °C) and the outgoing cold water temperature (e.g., 29 °C).
Air volume flow: According to BAC’s technical specifications, the S15E 1018-10 LE model actively moves 60.0 m³/s of air using three installed 11.0 kW fan motors.
If this airflow volume is reduced via a variable frequency drive (e.g., during night operation or in winter), the cooling capacity decreases in a controlled manner.
Approach: This represents the most critical thermodynamic limit. It describes the temperature difference between the desired cold water temperature and the prevailing wet-bulb temperature.
